Abiding In Him...
This week God laid on my heart to share with you about abiding in His son Jesus. It is only when abiding in Him that life can go in the direction it is meant to go in. His very Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light until our path (Psalm 119:105). He is the one who is to guide and direct us in every area of our lives.
John 14:15-21 says “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
We should be happy when we hear the sound of Jesus Words and are willing to obey them. When we walk in the Words that Jesus taught us, we will experience the power it gives us and enjoy the fruit that it will bring into our lives. We, as Christians, cannot do anything in and of ourselves. It’s only the Lord that enables us to do so. We can’t do anything through willpower or “white knuckling” it. It is only through abiding in Jesus, spending time with Him every day that we can do anything! What does it mean to abide? It means to remain in Christ, to wait for Christ, accept as Christ, etc..
You may be thinking to yourself, I can’t do that? How can I remain in Christ? Well, the Word says in Philippians 4:13 (KJV) that we can do ALL things through Jesus who gives us strength and in John 14:25-26 it says “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. It is awesome to know that He sent us a helper to guide us in all that we do! Jesus is the very example we should be following by whom He was guided… You see, Jesus didn’t walk in willpower, He walked one with the Father in heaven. We are supposed to do as Jesus did. When we become born again, we are to crucify the flesh and walk in the spirit and newness of life. We are to die daily, crucify our flesh daily and His mercies will be new every morning (Lamentations 3:13), to get us through that day. He is our daily savoir and when we serve Him daily, NO enemy can stand against us!
Trust me, I’m speaking to the choir here. Don’t ever think for one minute that I do this perfectly myself. Of course I don’t. I’m learning just as you are. God just chose me to be a messenger and to share the hope we have in Him. When He reveals something to me or shows me something to share or to teach or to write about, it is given to help all of us in walking out our lives better in Him.
I know that life can be tough sometimes but, it is in the joy of knowing Jesus that gives us our strength to get through the many obstacles that we face. And sometimes we may have to call on Him every hour or every minute or even every second of the day to help get us through.
Make a decision today in all that you do, to come to know the Lord better by abiding in Him, so you can walk out your life the way He intended you to; with power and in love!
Until Next Time,
Kim
