He Comes to our Rescue

We are living in some troubled times and we personally have areas of trouble in our lives or we know someone who does. We can’t count it strange when we go through these things 1 Peter 4:12-13 says, “Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.”

WOW. Rejoice. Yes, it says rejoice when we share in Christ’s sufferings. That can be tough to swallow. I don’t know about you but I have to admit, that God has had to remind me at times when I’m feeling sorry for myself because someone doesn’t like me, or someone has made fun of me or has attacked me for no reason or gossiped a lie about me or misunderstood me, and even with the aches and pains that I suffer at times, etc. As I am reminded, I have to think “Jesus suffered much more than I will ever have to, you are His and you will be attacked and at times for no reason.” That is when I have to call out to my Heavenly Daddy, My Abba Father and say, “Help me”, “Give me your strength”, “Encourage me”, “Protect me”, “Guide me”, or “Give me your wisdom”. It is only through conversing with Him, calling on His name and being still before Him that we can get through the many hard times we may endure. Isaiah 41:10 says 'Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.' Doesn’t that give you so much comfort? I believe that we look at God like He is this far off, unattainable being when in fact He is as close as living on the inside of us and He is as personal as being called Father or Daddy. Think about the love of a dad. His primary goal is to love, support, defend, provide for and protect His child. Well if our nature dad has it in him to be that, do you not think that our Heavenly Dad would so much more!? There is no one on the planet that will ever love you the way He does.

I love it that the bible reminds us that we can confidently say that the Lord is our Helper and that we don’t have to be afraid (Hebrews 13:6).

Now how about when the attacks we face are from our own personal doing? 1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. And, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 says And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness " Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore, I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong."

So remember next time you are going through something unfairly or from your own doing… There is nothing that the grace of God can’t help us get through. He is there for us and HE WILL COME TO OUR RESCUE!

I’m going to close with Psalm 107:19 “Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses.”

Until Next Time,

Kim
